Medical Check, Insurance & What To Do If You Get Sick
Before you start work, you must pass a medical check and complete fingerprinting.
And during your stay, you must know what to do if you get sick or injured.
This chapter will help you understand everything clearly and calmly.
๐ฉบ Medical Check Before Starting Work
Every foreign worker in Russia must pass a full medical examination before starting work.
The exam is organized by your employer or INTRUD coordinator and usually includes:
โ Examination by a general doctor, dermatologist, psychiatrist, and narcologist
โ Chest X-ray (fluorography)
โ Blood and urine tests
โ Tests for:
o HIV
o Syphilis (RW test)
o Hepatitis B and C
o Intestinal infections and parasites
o Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
o Staphylococcus bacteria
๐ Bring your passport, migration card, and registration slip.
You may also be asked for your SNILS.
๐ After completing the check, you will receive a medical certificate.
You must have this to legally begin work.
๐ฅ Where to go for the medical check?
Most cities have special certified clinics for foreign workers. Your coordinator will tell you when and where to go โ do not visit any clinic on your own unless clearly instructed.
๐ก๏ธ Medical Insurance: What It Covers
Every worker must have valid medical insurance in Russia.
Most workers receive Voluntary Health Insurance (VHI) through their employer.
This insurance usually covers:
โ General doctor visits
โ Diagnostics and lab tests
โ Treatment for common illnesses
โ Some emergency services
โ Hospital care, if required
๐ Always keep a photo or digital copy of your insurance policy on your phone.
โ Insurance may not cover chronic diseases or dental care unless clearly stated in your contract.
COVID-19, flu, and seasonal infections may be excluded from some policies.
Ask your coordinator if you need a vaccination or extra coverage โ some companies may require it.
